The floating islands of the uros are located in Lake Titicaca, approximately 30 minutes from the main port of the city of Puno. These islands are built from totora reeds, a type of reed that grows in the highest navigable lake in the world (Titicaca). The men and women weave the totora reeds to create the floating floor of the islands and build beautiful houses on them, where many tourists go for rural tourism and seek to learn more about the Aymara people. The main economic activity of the Ureños is based on fishing and handicrafts.
According to the schedule you chose, we will pick you up from your respective accommodation to transfer you to the main port of Puno.
After boarding the boats and listening to the guide’s Recommendations, we will depart from the Puno port for the lake excursion to the floating islands of the Uros. The estimated time between the Puno pier and the islands is 30 minutes. Upon arrival you will be able to appreciate the incredible constructions made of totora reeds, enjoy the stories of our guides and see the handicraft work done by the villagers, you will also learn more about the Language they speak and the customs and traditions passed down from generation to generation. The tour has a duration between 3 to 3h30min hours.
